How-to v2

The GMN Paul Müller Industrie GmbH & Co. KG openXEdge includes the AppStore (technology: FLECS), which lets you install additional apps — e.g. Heartbeat or Pitstop — on the edge.

Open the AppStore

  • On the device (kiosk): AppStore tile on the home page.
  • From another computer: https://<edge-ip>:5443AppStore tile. Remote access to the AppStore requires HTTPS — background under Remote access (HTTPS).

Access to the AppStore page can be controlled via MainUI’s user management; users without the corresponding page permission do not see the tile.

Login — only needed once

Installing apps requires signing in with a FLECS account. As of firmware 2.11.0 the edge keeps this login server-side: after a one-time sign-in, the AppStore opens already signed in from then on — on the kiosk as well as in browser access, without anything having to be stored in the browser.

Installed apps as tiles

Apps installed via the AppStore automatically appear as tiles on the home page of MainUI. The tile list is cached on the device, so the tiles remain available even after a reboot without an internet connection (as of firmware 2.11.2).

Troubleshooting

  • AppStore page stays empty (remote access) → Use the HTTPS access path https://<edge-ip>:5443, not HTTP via the LAN IP.
  • Login hangs at “Completing sign in…” → update to firmware ≥ 2.11.2, which fixes the underlying bug.
  • Tiles missing after a reboot → a one-time new sign-in in the AppStore is sufficient; the tiles are then persistently cached again.
